It's so much more, and the amazing picture is unlike anything I've ever seen on a mere TV. Add to it the ability to access the intermet (YouTube, Blockbuster, etc), and you have a multi-function visual experience in the guise of a 'TV set." Once I updated the encryption method on my wireless router, the hook-up was a snap. You must use WPA. WEP won't cut it. Viewing a Blu-Ray disc is an amazing experience. I'd been hearing about the upcoming Samsung 9000 series, with the wireless "media box" and the full localized LED backlighting (this one uses edge-based LED lighting). I kept waiting on it to come out, but it was delayed repeatedly, and I finally decided to go with this one (assuming that when the 9000 came out, I'd move this one to my bedroom). [3] Rating: 4 Date: 2010-02-25 Summary: Everything is great....except..... ... For some reason the DLNA is not fully functional. While the some videos play fine on USB stick, the same videos will not play from the DLNA home server. Other movies on the home server play fine. I've notified their tech and I am supposed to hear back from their level 2 tech soon...like two weeks ago....still no resolution. First thing I checked was stuck/dead pixels....TG all pixels work fine. The menu system is really slow and a bit cumbersome. Viewing is excellent from all angles; sports are crystal clear with absolutely no motion blur. Be sure to visit some of the tech websites for a list of the most effective picture settings. I've only had the TV for four months, but there have been no problems with it. It is currently wall-mounted and attached to a home theater system with a blu-ray player and a Wii. [2] Rating: 5 Date: 2010-02-16 Summary: Samsung LED 46" ... I absolutely love my new TV, and I love that Amazon was so easy to order from and the delivery was timely. The picture on this TV is incredible. I have it hooked up to a receiver and speakers, so I can't speak to the sound. Due to having it hooked up to a receiver, I have found that because my receiver is older and not a 1080 receiver, I'm not getting full 1080p reception. I plan to replace my receiver in the future to go with my Blue Ray player and new TV and I'm sure I'll be delighted. ...more

A/V Input Jacks - Audio/video input jacks allow you to connect external sources to your TV quickly and easily. These jacks connect your sources directly to audio and video circuits of the TV set, bypassing the tuner for optimum picture and sound reproduction. The video input is a composite video input.
ATSC - An acronym for advanced television systems committee, and the name of the DTV system used by broadcasters in the U.S.
Auto Flash - A small photoelectric sensor on your camera measures the amount of ambient light and turns the flash on automatically when needed.
Bias (recording) - A high frequency current applied to the record head along with the audio signal. It is necessary for reducing distortion and increasing sensitivity during recording.
Equalizer - A component or circuitry within a component that divides audio frequencies into separate bands, allowing the user to change the volume of each band and adjust for differences in listening space acoustics, personal taste or the characteristics of a specific recording.
H format - A 4x7 print. Similar to the motion picture and HDTV screen format.
MTS (Multi-Channel Television Sound) - Provides stereo broadcast reception for clean, crisp, virtually noise-free audio fidelity. Includes Dbx Noise Reduction system to optimize the soundtrack's full dynamic range.
Oversampling (CD players) - Multiplying the sampling frequency (44.1kHz) in a CD player to a higher frequency to shift noise components above audible levels. This feature creates a gentler low pass filter with more musical characteristics. This process usually yields a data rate of 352.8 kHz through 8x oversampling.
Sharpening - A picture enhancement making the image have more distinct borders, areas, lines or tones.
Smooth - A process that softens, blurs or makes an image, color or pattern to appear out of focus.
Voice Recognition - The capability for cellular phones, PCs, and other communications devices to be activated or controlled by voice commands.
WLNP - Refer to Local Number Portability
Windows CE - Microsoft operating system for handheld and mobile computers.
