I even ordered it once and got canceled when it was on sale. When I saw it for 1/4 of what it was I jump on opportunity well knowing that display sucks, control sucks but otherwise it does what it does. After using the usb plug for 6mo+ I am very happy. Works every time with one push of button and inside home aiming out the window to the switch which is 45 feet and around side of the wood shed. I use it to turn off a small pump that pumps water out of rain barrel to a series of bamboo pipes that are split with water running from pump and back to barrel for a constant water feature for the local birds. I have been using a similar model Sony stereo audio amplifier (an STR-DE310) in my living room for many years, with excellent performance and perfect reliability. But when I called Sherwood, I got a great and helpful Tech. who talked me through the whole sit-up including the use of the set-up mic. It now works great with my TV and sound system. A/V Input Jacks - Audio/video input jacks allow you to connect external sources to your TV quickly and easily. These jacks connect your sources directly to audio and video circuits of the TV set, bypassing the tuner for optimum picture and sound reproduction. The video input is a composite video input.
ATSC - An acronym for advanced television systems committee, and the name of the DTV system used by broadcasters in the U.S.
Auto Flash - A small photoelectric sensor on your camera measures the amount of ambient light and turns the flash on automatically when needed.
Bias (recording) - A high frequency current applied to the record head along with the audio signal. It is necessary for reducing distortion and increasing sensitivity during recording.
Equalizer - A component or circuitry within a component that divides audio frequencies into separate bands, allowing the user to change the volume of each band and adjust for differences in listening space acoustics, personal taste or the characteristics of a specific recording.
H format - A 4x7 print. Similar to the motion picture and HDTV screen format.
MTS (Multi-Channel Television Sound) - Provides stereo broadcast reception for clean, crisp, virtually noise-free audio fidelity. Includes Dbx Noise Reduction system to optimize the soundtrack's full dynamic range.
Oversampling (CD players) - Multiplying the sampling frequency (44.1kHz) in a CD player to a higher frequency to shift noise components above audible levels. This feature creates a gentler low pass filter with more musical characteristics. This process usually yields a data rate of 352.8 kHz through 8x oversampling.
Sharpening - A picture enhancement making the image have more distinct borders, areas, lines or tones.
Smooth - A process that softens, blurs or makes an image, color or pattern to appear out of focus.
Voice Recognition - The capability for cellular phones, PCs, and other communications devices to be activated or controlled by voice commands.
